To create a dry, high quality environment, GPProjects Ltd can install cavity drain membranes throughout the cellar space. These are non-destructive to the structure and also have insulation and sound absorbing qualities.
There are two ways to waterproof an existing, underground basement. The first, and the one dealt with in this project, is done by lining the basement with waterproof membranes which allow for decoration and everything else you would expect from a wall! A cavity is left between the original wall and the membrane down which any water can pass, into specially constructed drainage channels and sumps in the floor of the basement. The water is then silently pumped away. Simple, effective, completely safe and much less expensive than you think. GPProjects will install a sump into a 'pit' sited near the external drainage system. We can’t stop the water from ingression but the land drains are laid around the walls of the cellar and connected to the sump, thus allowing all water to be directed to this lowest point. From here the water is pumped automatically into the rainwater drains and silently pushed away. These are proper water management techniques installed into 1000’s of existing basements and satisfied homeowners
